The Hungarian machinery industry expands with a new player

2025. 02. 21.

China's Zoomlion, one of the world's top 5 heavy machinery manufacturers in the construction industry, has decided to build its third European plant in Hungary for EUR 105 million, followinga highly competitive international competition.

With a tradition going back more than 30 years, Zoomlion is one of the world's largest manufacturers of construction and agricultural machinery, with interests in 19 countries on four continents. Zoomlion products are extremely popular not only in the Far East but also in Africa, Central America, and Europe. With more than 30,000 employees, the group's turnover approximated EUR 6.2 billion in 2023. The company, listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, is further strengthening its presence on the European continent: after Germany and Italy, a two-phase investment is settled in Hungary, creating 802 new jobs, and resulting in the construction of a heavy machinery assembly and painting plant in Tatabánya.

In the first phase of the development, Zoomlion will start working this year in a 55,000 m2 hall leased from CTP Group. In just a few years, as the second phase begins, production will move to a self-owned hall. In the new plant, work will be carried out on intelligent digital production lines.

Between 2014 and 2024, with HIPA’s support, 64 positive decisions have been taken on projects involving Chinese companies, representing a total volume of nearly EUR 14.300 billion. Almost 26,000 jobs have been created thanks to the priority investments, and more than 13,000 jobs have been safeguarded under a specific subsidy to improve competitiveness.
