Modernization in the spirit of environmental awareness – a successful start to the year with the Marzek Kner Packaging Kft.’s investments.
The Marzek Kner Packaging Kft., which belongs to the Austrian-owned Marzek Etiketten + Packaging Group, was founded in 2000. Its legal predecessor became known as the Kner Printing House of Békéscsaba, established in 1882. With nearly 140 years of professional history, the company has by now become a key player in Central European packaging manufacturing.
The strategic goal of Marzek Kner is, alongside expanding its production capacities for environmentally conscious, paper-based packaging materials, to implement technological and plant development investments that increase production efficiency and significantly reduce the amount of waste generated.
The first project aimed at expanding production capacity was implemented between 2020 and 2025. In the spirit of environmental awareness, the company invested EUR 6 million in modernization. As a result of the investment, not only was printing capacity made more efficient, but in parallel it also became possible to purchase a special machine suitable to produce label products.
The latter technological investment, worth nearly EUR 9 million, was launched in 2023, starting with the acquisition of state-of-the-art machinery. The commissioning of the new equipment is taking place in a phased manner, with full setup and calibration of the machines expected to be completed by 2027.
Reducing the ecological footprint and environmental impact is a core commitment of Marzek Kner: the company is developing a solar power park from its own resources and carrying out energy-efficiency upgrades. At the same time, Marzek Kner does not focus solely on environmentally friendly solutions, but also plays an active role in workforce development and vocational training, as demonstrated by its three-pillar vocational training programme entitled "Gyere közénk nyomdásznak!"
