Vajda-Papír Unveils Major Investment Program

2026. 01. 20.

Hungary's leading hygiene paper manufacturer, Vajda-Papír is developing its operations with a series of investments.

The family-owned company is implementing a EUR 182.6 million investment program with the support of the HIPA Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency, comprising four distinct projects.

The cornerstone of the program is a EUR 80 million capacity expansion at the company’s primary production facility in Dunaföldvár, Tolna county, introducing modern, energy-efficient production lines that will significantly increase output and boost export potential across several product categories.

A further EUR 64.2 million investment targets entry into the disinfectant-impregnated hygiene wipes market, a segment currently dominated by Far Eastern producers in Europe.

Sustainability is also a key focus, urging the company to invest EUR 34.4 million in a solar power plant designed to cover a substantial share of the factory’s electricity needs, while an additional EUR 4 million is dedicated to employee training.

Founded in 1999, Vajda-Papír is Hungary’s market leader in tissue paper products, accounting for over 50% of domestic production. The company has grown into an international manufacturer, with production sites in Hungary and Norway and sales in more than 30 countries.

HIPA was established in 2014 as a national investment promotion organisation, governed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. The agency’s most important task is to provide professional assistance to foreign and Hungarian companies wishing to invest in Hungary. Between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2025, HIPA guided 2,305 projects in value of more than EUR 66 billion to create close to 187,000 new jobs.
