BioTechUSA Boosts Production in Hungary

Hungarian-owned nutritional supplements manufacturer BioTechUSA has completed a series of investments to strengthen its production base in Hungary.
BioTechUSA has expanded its factory in Szada, near Budapest, through a greenfield investment that has created 18,000 square meters of new production and storage capacity. The new production line produces multilayer protein bars using robotic technology. This development increases the company's annual protein bar production capacity to 75 million pieces. The new warehouse was also designed based on industrial automation solutions.
At the company’s Dunakeszi facility – also in Pest County, near the capital – the production of liquid products has been enhanced with new equipment. In parallel with these projects, a solar power system was installed at both sites, which will cover 34 percent of their energy demand.
The combined value of the two investment programs is 26.4 million euros, both implemented with the support of the HIPA Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency.
BioTechUSA is a major player in the European sports nutrition supplements market. The Hungarian firm employs around 2,000 people and distributes its products in more than 100 countries through franchise stores, webshops, and sales partners. Its export revenue accounts for 80 percent of total sales, with main markets including Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.
