Doğuş Çay Creates New Jobs

The Turkish-owned food manufacturer will work primarily with Hungarian suppliers, thus contributing significantly to the strengthening of the domestic industry.
Initially, the food industry company Doğuş Çay focused on tea processing, but later expanded its activities to include the sugar, tomato puree, chips, cold drinks, and energy sectors. Doğuş Çay integrates 70,000 agricultural producers, operates 12 factories, and employs over 5,000 workers.
As part of its long-term growth and export strategy, the Istanbul-based company is making a €109.6 million investment in Orosháza, creating 441 new jobs in total. The project primarily aims to build manufacturing capacity for potato and corn flakes, as well as iced tea, with the full reconstruction of the necessary buildings and the procurement of new machinery. In addition, energy developments are also being implemented, including the installation of new solar panels and energy storage systems. This investment marks the company’s first expansion outside of Turkey, with Hungary being the first country to witness its international growth.
During production in Orosháza, the majority of suppliers will be Hungarian partners. The finished products will also appear on domestic store shelves, but they will primarily focus on European Union markets.
Interestingly, the company currently uses 35,000 tons of corn and 100,000 tons of potatoes to produce a total of 70,000 tons of chips. With the expansion of production, however, 200,000 tons of potatoes and 50,000 tons of corn will be processed.
