By investing EUR 76 million, German-owned Schott Hungary Kft. has now inaugurated its brand-new prefillable syringe facility in Lukácsháza located in Vas county. The project creates 120 new jobs in the area.
The German SCHOTT Group produces special glassware, glass ceramics and related high-end material, with its Hungarian subsidiary, SCHOTT Hungary Kft. being the largest pharmaceutical manufacturing plant of the Group.
Demand is growing globally for high-quality prefillable syringes (PFS) as they are not only offer a stable, long-term storage solution for drugs, but also a safe and convenient delivery system for patients and clinicians.
Schott therefore announced back in 2022 to add new PFS production capacities in value of EUR 76 million at its site in Lukácsháza, and the project has now been completed.
The newly opened facility is equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, and it is the second site where the company manufactures glass syringes, in addition to the one in St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Thanks to the investment Schott is simultaneously strengthening its competitiveness in Europe and supply security for major pharmaceutical companies as well as contract manufacturing organizations. It also remains ambitious by planning to further invest a multi-million Euro amount in Hungary in prefillable glass syringes in the next years.
