The foundation stone of the MIAS Group, belonging to Jungheinrich AG, manufacturing automated logistics stacker cranes was laid in the Gyöngyös site for a new production unit with 8,300 square meter shop floor area. As the result of the greenfield investment by the German company worth EUR 16 million and creating 60 new workplaces, the capacity of the Hungarian plant doubles.
MIAS Group, with headquarters in Munich, established in 1947 and present in five countries, is a company manufacturing warehouse and logistics technology machinery, the main engagement of which is the production of automated logistic stacker cranes (RBG − Regalbediengeräte in German). The MIAS Group was acquired in 2015 by Jungheinrich, which further expanded its product portfolio in the field of automated warehouse solutions.
MIAS as a German-Hungarian joint venture entered the domestic market in 1992 under the name of Mátra Gépipari Kft., and assumed its current name in 2016. In its hall in Gyöngyös currently occupying some 5,400 square metres floorspace, machine production and assembly activities are performed with nearly 130 employees, mainly for the German and Western-European markets. The RBG machines manufactured in Hungary are the key elements of logistics systems designed to meet the needs of customers.
In the framework of the investment in Gyöngyös, a hall with 8,300 square meter production area is to be constructed on a 43,000 square metres land, which is supplemented by a supporting social building, as well as a technological building. Industry 4.0 technologies will also be applied in production, by which the current 150 unit per year RBG production capacity will increase to 300 units; furthermore, the manufactured products will also be suitable for integration into modern Industry 4.0 systems.
