German DIY Sector Leader to Take its Hungarian Operation to the Next Level

The opening of a new facility employing 80 people marks a new chapter for Einhell, the German producer of battery-powered DIY and garden tools. With an investment of over EUR 4.93 million, the market leader is setting up its first European manufacturing plant in Sormás, Zala County, where batteries and battery chargers for modular power tools will be assembled.
The German-owned Einhell has been serving customers with its DIY products for home, workshop, and garden use since 1964. Today, it is one of the leading players in the sector, operating in more than 100 countries with 49 subsidiaries worldwide.
The Hungarian operation is now taken to the next level with the heavy involvement of HIPA, given that the company has announced the expansion of its current commercial activities to include manufacturing. With an investment over EUR 4.93 million, Einhell is establishing its first European manufacturing plant in Sormás, Zala County, where they will assemble batteries and battery chargers for the Einhell Power-X-Change modular power tools. This strategic move will shift a significant portion of the supply chain from China to Europe, facilitating the service of the European market.
After initiating the battery assembly activities, the German company’s long-term plans include relocating the production of certain Power-X-Change tool modules to Hungary and establishing a strong local supplier network.
