The recent U.S.–Hungary summit in Washington may open a new chapter in bilateral economic relations, bringing dozens of American companies into the focus of Hungary’s investment promotion activities, said Mr. István Joó, Government Commissioner and CEO of the HIPA Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency in a radio interview.
Speaking on public broadcaster Kossuth Rádió, Mr. István Joó highlighted that as a result of the Washington meeting between Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and President Donald Trump, Hungary has further strengthened its position in the key areas of energy a finance.
Our already competitive business and investment environment has received new momentum. The summit sent highly positive signals to potential U.S. investors and may open a new dimension in U.S.–Hungarian economic relations
- he underlined.
The HIPA CEO highlighted that most U.S. investments in Hungary are in high-value-added sectors such as medical technology, electronics, ICT, and business services. Currently, 1,400 American companies operate in Hungary, providing around 100,000 jobs. This year alone, another 1,000 jobs will be created in R&D and engineering, contributing to the diversification and competitiveness of Hungarian industry – Mr. István Joó noted.
The Government Commissioner for Investment Promotion and Implementation of Large FDI Projects added that over the past few months, HIPA has identified around fifty U.S. companies representing new technologies and industrial segments that could integrate well into Hungary’s industrial ecosystem.
In the coming weeks, our economic diplomats across the United States will proactively reach out to these companies and present Hungary’s investment environment, which is the best in Europe today. Any American company looking for an investment location in Europe today makes the best choice by choosing Hungary
the HIPA CEO said.
